3/20/2002 No. 94 Sunoco Special ready to contend!
My goal this year is to challenge for the championship. I have joined forces with a new engineer, Josh Browne. He brings tremendous technical expertise and over the past few months we have been engaged in an extensive winter testing schedule. Josh was the chief engineer for the Factory Dodge Stratus Touring Car Team and the head chassis engineer for Roger Penskes NASCAR team with drivers Rusty Wallace and Jeremy Mayfield. His talents combined with my improvement over the winter have consistently put us at the front of the pack during testing.
I am happy to say that I will continue flying the Sunoco colors in the #94 Sunoco Special as well as put on local show car appearances throughout the season. Look for me at a Sunoco station near you! Sunoco remains the official race fuel of the Barber Dodge Series and will power the twenty-five car field as well as giving me "special fuel" for that competitive advantage.
We have a 10-race schedule this year including tracks from Montreal, to California, to the season closing race in Mexico City. Barber Dodge continues to be sanctioned by and support CART events. While several of last years top competitors have moved up to the Toyota Atlantic Series, the last stop on the way to CART Champ Cars, this years field is comprised of hungry international competitors making the Barber Dodge Series some of the best racing the world has to offer. As the veteran I feel my experience and track knowledge combined with the results of winter testing will lead me to victory lane.
I am in line with my plan to reach CART Champ Cars in 2005. This will be my last year in the Barber Dodge Series, as I will be looking to move up the Toyota Atlantic Series for the 2003 season. Those of you who have been with me for the past few years have seen my trials, tribulations, and successes. You have been to the Guard House Race Nights and our Octoberfest party. A few of you have even been out to a race. I look forward to having you as my guest at one of the events. Our races are in cool spots and encourage you to visit. If you cant make it, catch the action on The SPEED Channel with a full hour of in depth race coverage.
I will be keeping you up to date this year on my official Web Site, Coming Soon! Additionally, I will be distributing a schedule and television times in the coming weeks. I look forward to seeing you at the races.
